Massage is one of the oldest healing modalities used by most cultures. Massage has the potential to calm the nervous system, lower stress and blood pressure, increase lymphatic drainage, release tight muscles, reduce pain and stiffness, increase range of motion and bolster the immune system.

Wow with all those benefits we should all be getting regular massages. I know some people don’t like having anyone touch them or they are embarrassed to get undressed in front of a stranger.

There are many types of massages from seated massages that are even being offered at airports to Deep Tissue. There should be one that suits you and allows you to get some of the benefits.

In India they start massaging babies with coconut oil from the start. They think touch and massage positively affects the baby’s development. In orphanages where babies are not held or touched, infants often grow up with emotional detachment.

I personally like reflexology. Because you don’t have to get undressed and I find it very soothing to have my feet massaged.
